The essay discusses some features of literary visuality in two works dedicated to Caravaggio: La solitude Cara-vage by Yannick Haenel and Il dono di saper vivere by Tommaso Pincio. It analyses the relationships between these literary writings and the work of the painter, and focuses on the way the books shape a distribution of the sensible starting from Caravaggio’s paintings and on their models of perception and ekphrastic writing.
